For Maplewood and South Orange residents, a new animal control service is coming soon in 2023. So in the meantime, if you've lost a pet or spotted a stray on the street, SOMA residents have been instructed to call the Maplewood or South Orange Health Dept. Both towns share the same Health Officer, Candice Davenport. Here is the phone number to call: 973-762-8120 ext. 4400.  This information will be helpful: 

• Photo of the lost pet or of the stray

• The lost pet's name

• Any useful information, ie. distinguishing marks

• Location where last seen
