The mission of SOMA for Animals is to see that no adoptable pet is euthanized for lack of space in South Orange and Maplewood, NJ. We are working on making that goal a reality at both the private and public level.

 

SOMA for Animals is a volunteer group of talented and dedicated animal lovers devoting their time and expertise to make a positive difference for the animals of South Orange and Maplewood, NJ.

 

The mass-killing of adoptable pets can be ended if animal advocates and animal lovers join forces at the municipal level to work on issues surrounding homeless pets.

 

Recognizing that it takes a strong volunteer effort to make this happen, SOMA for Animals has formed to assist our local rescue groups; to develop a philosophy of kindness and stewardship towards animals consistant with SOMA's stance on race, lifestyle and the environment; to work with local officials to help educate the public on humane treatment of our animals and by providing important resource information for pet owners; and, above all, to help the homeless animals of our towns find loving new owners.
